Required tools: retractable razor blade, squeegee, tape measure / ruler, spray bottle full of water.
Instalation mixture: mix 35oz/1L of water and 2ml (1/2 teaspoon) of teaspoon of baby shampoo shake before using.
The vinyl decal has 3 layers: the backing, the decal and the application tape.
All surfaces must be considered dirty and must be cleaned prior to the application of the vinyl decal. Painted metals should be cleaned with an automotive detergent. Wipe the surface dry with a clean, dry, lint-free cloth. The vehicle surface temperature shold be between 65-80 degree °F / 18-26 °C
1. Hold in place
Align the decal to the bottom side of the door with the backing side facing down and the application tape facing up. Apply masking tape to fix the vinyl, including a vertical on through the centre of the decal to mark the hinging.
2. Peel back and remove backing
Peel off and remove the backing layer by cutting it off at the hinge point. Hold the application tape with the decal on it on the side.
3. Wet surface
Wet generously the vehicle surface and the adhesive side of the vinyl using a spray bottle filled with water.
4. Apply decal
Apply the decal while the surface is wet - this will allow flexibility in positioning. Push excess water and air bubbles out with a squeegee, starting at the centre of the decal and working outward.
Depending on the temperature, let the decal dry for aprox. 5-10 minutes. Cooler temperatures and soapy water method require longer periods of time. Go over with heat gun or hair dryer to speed up drying process if needed.
5. Remove application tape and trim
Remove the application tape slowly, ensuring that the decal has applied to the surface correctly. Using a retractable razor blade trim along door openings and fold excess vinyl inward. Ensure that the vinyl graphic was applied completely and evenly on the vehicle.
Go over the vinyl one more time with your squeegee ensuring it's firmly applied. Repeat step 1-5 for installation on the other side of the vehicle.
